RANGE USE AND SAFETY RULES
All Senior Members, members over the age of 18, are designated Association Safety Officers. They have the absolute right, and obligation, to point out safety issues noted while on Association Property.
Ranges are for paid member use only. A current membership card must be posted with name and information visible while using the range.
A member may infrequently bring guests (no more than two guests at a time) to the club. The member retains responsibility for the guest’s actions while using Association property. All members MUST have their guest fill out a guest release form. This form must be filled out in its entirety and put into the provided mailbox each visit. Failure to do so will result in the member losing their membership.
A guest is limited to 3 visits. Afterward, the guest must determine if they will become a member or no longer utilize the club facilities.
Dogs must be on a maximum of a 5-foot leash under owner control at all times. The owner must pick up and properly dispose of any fecal matter.
All members will be accountable for their own actions while using the ranges or on club property. You should be, personally, sufficiently insured. The member agrees to hold the Association harmless for the member’s actions.
The Association is not responsible for any injury to any person, damage to, or loss of a member’s or non-member’s personal property while using Association property for any reason whatsoever. Your use of the property is an indisputable acceptance of this condition.
Parking is allowed on stones only with the exception of club sponsored events. No parking on the grass.
RIFLE, PISTOL, and ARCHERY RANGE RULES
Range operation hours are: 9AM to 30 minutes BEFORE Sunset daily. No firearms use is permitted outside of these hours. Sunset hours are posted on the website and on the premises.
No firearm use is permitted on the Archery Range(s).
No rifles or shotguns are permitted for use on the Pistol Range.
Eye and hearing protection must be worn by any person shooting or observing shooting.
No shooting is allowed on any Association property by any person who is using, or under the influence of any drug, alcoholic beverage, or other form of intoxicant.
Members under the age of 18 must be supervised by an adult member (over the age of 18) while on club property.
All members using the range should be courteous and warn others before beginning fire, occupy only one shooting position at a time, limit shooting time when others are waiting to shoot, and not intentionally disturb any other shooters concentration.
At any time there is a person in front of the shooting line, all shooters will cease handling firearms and stand clear of the shooting positions.
The muzzle of all firearms not placed in the available rack must be pointed down range at all times or have actions open and sitting on its case.
Any firearm not being used in active fire must have the action open with no ammunition in the firearm in any form, or in the magazine if it is in the firearm.
No person shall handle a firearm belonging to any other member without the owner’s prior approval.
Shotgun patterning will be done using only the patterning boards. An approved area is established.
The use of explosive bullets or targets is prohibited.
The use of fully automatic firearms on Association property is prohibited. This includes bumpfires and any other type of uncontrolled fire.
The use of .50 BMG is permitted. The user must ensure that all targets are placed ONLY on the 200 yard range and projectiles impact in the lower half of the backstop.
The event pits are for officially sanctioned events only, not general shooting.
TARGETS
All targets must be standard paper targets or clay birds. All shooters will ensure that the range is clean of all their trash, spent brass, and used targets as they depart.
The use of cans, bottles, or other general trash materials as targets is not allowed.
All targets must be place so the fired bullet will strike an approved backstop. All fired rounds must be fired only at targets placed so that the bullet will strike the approved backstop well within the backstop’s perimeter. There will be no cross range firing. The angle to the target should be approximately 90 degrees.
Targets shall be placed no higher than the target holders at each range backstop, and no closer to the right or left edge less than 3 feet from the outer edge of the backstop. This is to ensure that all projectiles remain in the backstop.
All club steel targets are for club functions only and ammunition will be limited to cast lead bullets unless otherwise permitted. The use of steel targets provided by the member is allowed so long as the target is free standing or suspended, not lying on the backstop. The use of jacketed or steel core bullets on steel targets is not permitted on steel targets.
Steel targets must be immediately in front of a backstop and be permitted to move freely. Steel targets may not be placed part way down range.
No portable target holders are permitted on any rifle range. Must use established club target holders
ONLY!
STANDARD SAFETY RULES
Be completely familiar with your firearm before you come to the range. If you need assistance, please ask. We have certified instructors or other to assist you.
Make your intentions to replace or post targets known to other shooters on the range before moving in front of the firing line. Make sure they are standing clear of all firearms before moving in front of the firing line.
A light system is in place on rifle ranges. After checking with other shooters on entire rifle range, turn on light before going down range. Turn light off when returning and making sure no one else is down range.
No shooting is allowed on any Association property while any work detail activities are in progress, or when the Range Closed sign is posted.
Any member found not obeying any of these rules is subject to any or all of the following; a fine up to $25, revocation of membership, or retaking membership orientation.
